Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 Summer Bridge Program will be is tentatively being planned as a fully virtual program. This includes classes and extra-curricular activities. The application to apply for Summer Bridge will be available in February of 2021. In lieu of a stipend, the program covers the cost of all course materials and will ship them or email them to students prior to the start of classes. Tuition and fees for 6 credit hours are fully covered. Program dates are as follows:

  • New Student Orientation – June 24-25
  • Summer Bridge Orientation – June 25
  • Classes – June 28 – August 2
  • Holiday – July 5 for Independence Day
  • Closing Program – August 3

Course options for the virtual program include: ENGL 105 (all students will enroll in this) and have a choice between MATH 110, MATH 130 or EDUC 330 as the second course option. Placement in one of the second course options is contingent upon placement exams or transfer credit. For example, MATH 110 is a pre-requisite for MATH 130, so a student would only be able to register for MATH 130 if they have fulfilled MATH 110 through transfer credit, AP credit, or placement exam credit for MATH 110.

Students accepted to the Summer Bridge program are required to register for session 7 of New Student Orientation. We work together with the Student Store to pre-order laptops and have them shipped to your home address prior to the start of orientation and classes. It is important for students to regularly check email, register for orientation, and place laptop orders as soon as possible to ensure delivery in a timely manner.

The program will continue to provide academic support through connections with the UNC Learning and Writing Centers and having tutors assigned to each section of classes. We will offer information sessions with various programs, graduate and professional schools, and more on Carolina’s campus.

We look forward to welcoming our next group of students to the Carolina family!
